I'm often asked by home buyers about property taxes after they have purchased their home.
Property taxes in Sarasota and Manatee counties are paid in arrears- 2019 taxes are due in November. If you purchased a new construction or resale home in this year, your taxes will not adjust until November 2020.
A conservative estimate of the adjusted tax amount is 1.5% of the sales price. Don't forget, if you're going to make the home your permanent residence, to take your deed and proof of residency (FL driver's license or utility bills) to the tax collector's office for your homestead benefit.
