You do not have to pay any special taxes or fees to obtain a mortgage.

 

Lenders are getting more competitive, so your downpayment may be lower than in the past. Some banks and lenders may require you open and maintain a deposit account with them, although more recently the major lenders are starting to relax this requirement as well.
